Why we love Gotlands!
Gotland sheep are a hearty multi-purpose long-wool breed with uniquely silver-looking curls of wool. They are friendly and curious, with excellent mothering skills, and prolific milk production. Unlike our Finnsheep, Gotlands are very seasonal breeders generally producing twins. Lambs are born black and gain their silvery grey appearance as they age. They are a medium sized and alert sheep with easy foot and fleece care. Our farming system in Michigan is rather similar to the natural environment of the Gotlands in their native Sweden. We breed AGSS registered Gotlands - check them out on OUR FLOCK page.
Crossbred Gotlands also have many rewarding characteristics, and make wonderful fiber, meat, and companion stock. For interest in crossbred Gotlands, visit our sister farm OVERLAND LAMB |
